Why Am I Hungry???

Many people who begin new exercise routines may experience an increase in their appetite.  The question is…Are you hungry or are you thirsty? Are your hunger pains just cravings or does your body really need sustenance?

The harder and longer you work out, the more food you will need to replenish your energy afterwards, so be sure to take in complex carbs and proteins within 30 to 60 minutes of your workout to stave off hunger later.  Keep clean snacks on hand like raw nuts, fresh fruits, low fat cheese, yogurt, raw peanut butter, etc.

But before you dive into that veggie burger, make sure you are not thirsty. Many people confuse hunger for thirst.  Check yourself and make sure you are properly hydrated.  Your goal should be six to eight 8 ounce glasses a day.  Focus on extra replacement H20, especially during and after your workout!
